When working at offshore sites, basic training in how to deal with emergencies is a must. Legally as well as logically. Offshore facilities are often miles away from any means of rescue. Being able to handle yourself in such an environment demands the necessary skillset and know-how. In other words: a BOSIET course.
The Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) course equips participants with essential skills to manage various emergency scenarios in an offshore environment. As a foundational course in offshore survival training, BOSIET serves as a prerequisite for more specialized emergency training programs. Upon completion, individuals are better prepared to handle the demanding conditions and potential hazards of offshore work.
At RelyOn, we offer the option of completing the theoretical content of the BOSIET training programme online prior to attending the training centre to observe live demonstrations and complete the assessment of the training programme in the modules below:
This blended approach allows you to study the theory wherever you are and at your own pace, while still providing you with in-person instruction at our state-of-the-art training centers. Our online courses are powered by AI-based adaptive learning technology, which adapts the content to you for a more personalized experience.
The BOSIET course is designed for both newcomers to the offshore industry and those already working in offshore facilities. It provides participants with fundamental knowledge about life and work in offshore environments, enhancing their ability to respond effectively to emergencies. Whether you are a seasoned offshore worker or new to the field, BOSIET ensures you have the necessary skills to handle dangerous situations safely.
The BOSIET course spans three days, covering key areas such as general safety, emergency evacuation, sea survival, and firefighting. Training in general safety includes essential protocols that offshore workers must follow in high-risk scenarios, focusing on common dangers, first aid, and evacuation procedures. Participants also learn to escape from various confined and irregular locations within an offshore facility, including safety measures related to helicopter boarding and operations.
To enroll in a BOSIET course, participants must be at least 16 years old and capable of passing both the course assessments and a medical examination. A BOSIET certification is valid for four years, after which individuals must complete the Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET) to extend their certification for an additional four years.
For most offshore personnel, obtaining a BOSIET certification is mandatory. This requirement is not only a legal obligation but also a crucial aspect of ensuring the safety and preparedness of individuals working in high-risk offshore environments. Ensuring you have a BOSIET certificate helps safeguard your well-being and that of your colleagues.
